Water mainstream and time are still the things that are out of human control. Time passed that made pigments of a way of life gradually changes. Although concrete things are adapted and disappeared, it is still always evidence of existence of spirit of this place like rafting in Drava,in Maribor in the past since Roman Era.
It is an important evidence of the growth of Maribor. It is also an important transportation and economic development that passed until the change of Era of adjustment oftransportation when technological industry starts to have an important roles. Thus, rafting ended and be memorized in other types. However, it still maintains the value of a way of life and culture. In addition, it is a part of Drava River until present.
The Pigments Of Era Pavilion wants to be an image that reflects rafting that used to be an important part of the growth of Maribor town and used to be a part of Drava River in the past to emerge new like modern. The pigments of rafts in the past will be fulfilled by using activity in present era and support of future change. It can be adjusted according to the place and a way of life of people.
The design of Pavilion have a main concept from shape composition of rafted homes that were disappeared in the past comes back to fulfill new activities at present. Thus, this Pavilion is divided into 64 small rafts (1x1 m.) that can be floated on water surface by themselves and can be aggregated until having the size of 8x8 m. They depend on the usage of each activity. It is divided main structure into 2 parts.
The column and roof system are made of wood and aluminum material. The wood pole can be adjusted in height from 2-4 meters. They are installed on the floor interlocking, can be removed and designed so that the minimum span of the roof is 2x2 m.The columns are equipped with hooks to hold the membrane roof parts. and designed with a circular frame inside as an option to create new activities such as installing curtains to divide the exhibition space, creating a boundary group activities or workshops etc.
Floor system it is modular with the size 1x1 m. It’s made of wood material. The first stage is main structure for attachment with floating systems of rafts. The pigments of floors can perform interlocking in order to connect to other pigments in horizontal approach.
The second step is wood structure floor with the size of 1x1x0.2 m. (Not be attached to floating systems). These floor types can be overlaid in vertical approach, so they are flexible the usage according to activities
